This uses data from 68 colleges that: my kids and friends are interested in - or curious about - (i.e., not a representative sample); and published 2023 responses to the CDS initiative as of late April. FYI, among the schools that we are interested, only 63% have published 2023 responses as of late May, 2024.

There were three new questions in 2023 CDS, and it shows figures for two of them which have at least several responses. Of note, some schools release responses over multiple revisions, and there may be more schools once we hit the CDS response deadline.

1. Admission rate by US vs. international applications

Among 68 colleges/universities, 46 included admission rate broken down by US vs. international applications.

2. Among those enrolled, percent distribution of GPA by standardized test score submission

Among 68 colleges/universities, only 14 included percent distribution of GPA (GPA 4.0 in dark blue & 3.75-3.99 in light blue) broken down by those who did not submit their standardized test scores (left bars) vs. those who did (right).

Of note, focus on synthesizing any pattern within a school, because the GPA distribution reporting is not always comparable across schools. For example, some schools seem to have used weighted GPA (not following the instructions).
