Project Report
INTRODUCTION
Sales data is critical for both
small and large businesses. It includes metrics such as Total Sales,
Profits, Losses, Discounts, Markets, Regions, and so on. It enables
managers to examine sales from a variety of perspectives and determine
what is and is not working.It also provides information and reporting so
that sales managers and executives can determine which regions are
meeting their goals and which are not, which salespeople are performing
well and which are not, and so on. One of the primary causes of low
product sales is a failure to accurately capture customer needs. We can
identify the needs of our most profitable customers and potential
customers by analyzing sales performance, and then develop sales
measures to improve business performance. Traditional sales activities
rely on the person in charge’s intuition and experience. It is intuitive
to discover the causes of failure and success through objective sales
analysis and to share sophisticated sales know-how with your team. Based
on past data, sales analytics allows us to identify market
opportunities, grasp trends in sales performance, and predict “how much
your company’s products will sell in a certain period in the
future.”[1]
Big Data Analytics for Customer-Centered
Processes
In a competitive market, managing analytics and
dealing with external processes such as retail and customer applications
can be difficult. Recently, Big Data Analytics has provided an advantage
and a significant jump in knowing the Total Accessible Market as well as
the niches. A few market leaders have broken the code and are achieving
outstanding growth in Sales and Customer Interaction. These firms are
unquestionably benefiting from the First Mover Advantage in the field of
Big Data Analytics. For example, consumer goods companies such as
Proctor & Gamble began studying sales trends and estimating product
performance in the market. They started by generating high-quality
actionable insights in order to identify the parameters of product
marketing. Companies such as P&G pioneered the Marketing-Mixed
Analytics discipline in order to communicate with individual customers
while putting a competitive product on the market. They began by
gathering data from vendors to better understand how different channels
influenced their customers (grocers) and consumers (Product Users).
Companies can harness the power of Big Data and utilize these tools to
test marketing campaigns for various groups of society. It is now
necessary to stay up with the pace of Analytics 4.0, which is the
introduction of AI in analytics and automated data channeling systems.
Many organizations have yet to implement technologies and methods in the
recent period of Analytics 2.0 and Analytics 3.0 when Big data hit the
market and executives recognized its powers to provide high-quality
actionable insights from a large pool of data. Making an entire firm
data literate and expecting employees and senior management to interact
fluidly in order to exploit data to achieve corporate goals is not as
simple as it seems.[1]
Business Objectives
We
intend to discover KPIs and conduct sales analyses using the data in the
Dataset. With these actionable insights, we will be able to develop
strategies for improved customer interaction and the expansion of the
sales pipeline. “What are the profits per segment and profit per
market?” for example. Which sales segment has the best performance?
Which departments are experiencing losses? or What is the order priority
for the majority of the products? We can optimize the supply chain,
reduce delivery wait times, and manage inventory with these insights.
With these findings, we could also conduct a customer churn analysis.[2]
Plan of Action
We intend to begin the Analysis
with descriptive statistics of the numerical variables we intend to
examine. We intend to plot graphs using visualization libraries such as
ggplo2 and RColorBrewer to gain a better understanding of the
relationship between variables. We hope to gain actionable insights for
our business problems as the analysis progresses, and we will use
visualization tools to visualize the findings.
ANALYSIS

•We intend to find the Descriptives(Mean,Standard Deviation, Range and Median) for following categorical variables: Price, Total Sales, Total Loss, Net Sale and Profits.

•Inference: Descriptive Statistics is the first and
foremost step for Data Analysis. It gives us a clear understanding of
the DataSet and the Goals associated with the Business Question we
intend to solve further in the Analysis.
Task 2: Visualizing the Numerical Variables
Task 2.1: Visualizing the average and Distribution of Prices using
BoxPlot and Histogram respectively
•Inference: Using the BoxPlot, We infer that The Average
Product Price Across the Inventory is $500 and the Distribution of
Product Prices can be seen in the Histogram
Task 2.2: Visualizing the average and Distribution of Total
Sales using BoxPlot and Histogram respectively
•Inference: Using the BoxPlot, We infer that The Average Sale
Across the Prodcuts is $250 and the Distribution of Total Sales can be
seen in the Histogram

•Inference: Using the BoxPlot, We infer that The Average Loss

•Inference: Using the BoxPlot, We infer that the Average Net

•Inference:There are total 62 Categories in African Market,
302 Catgories in Asia Pacific Market, 261 Categories in European Market,
205 Categories in LATAM Market, 170 Categories in USCA Market.

delivering the product to a consumer. It adds value to the Customer
Experience and may directly affect the customer Churn rate

•Inference:From the above BarPlot, We can Infer that
European Market has the Highest Sale and USCA has the lowest among the
Markets.
Question2: What are the Profits Per Segment?
Using a
BoxPlot, we can visualize the Profits per Segment
•Inference:From the above BoxPlot, We can Infer that Median
Profits in all the Three Segments i.e Consumer, Corporate and Home
Office Supplies is almost the same. Though there are few outliers, A few
products in the Corporate and Consumer Segment are quite profitable
Question3: Which Market has the Highest Profits?

a PieChart, we can visualize the Profits per Market
•Inference:From the above PieChart, We can Infer that Profits
in Asia Pacific and European Region is the highest followed by LATAM,
USCA and Africa being the least Profit yeilding Market

Using a BarPlot, we can visualize the Average Shipping per

•Inference:From the above BarPlot, We can conclude that
Average Shipping Cost in African, Asia Pacifc, Europe and LATAM region
is almost the same whereas Shipping Cost in USCA region is the lowest.
The Store can Formulate a Strategy to reduce the shipping costs for the
four regions and try to reduce it in order to save costs.

•Inference:The following graph shows us the distribution of
Shipping Cost.
CONCLUSION
Several factors influence market
growth, sales, and profitability while reviewing market statistics. To
reach a conclusion and move forward with strategy development, a
thorough grasp of all elements is required. To gain a basic
comprehension of the circumstance, visually attractive graphs are
required. So, for each Analysis, we created a graphical representation
using Bar plots, Box plots, Histograms, and Pie charts. With these data,
We can conclude that Average Shipping Cost in African, Asia Pacifc,
Europe and LATAM region is almost the same whereas Shipping Cost in USCA
region is the lowest and the Total Profit in the Central American Region
is $886.5. Though, there are a few outliers ranging from $2000 to $4000.
Central American Region is a high Profit yeilding Market. The Store can
Formulate a Strategy to reduce the shipping costs for the four regions
and try to reduce it in order to save costs. The products in the
Technology sector have the highest average sale. As a result, products
for technology sale must be available at all times in the Inventory.
