Hi, I’m a business student majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing at CSUB. My current objectives is to obtain an internship or entry-level marketing job. My career goal is to be a marketing coordinator or creative director. I want to work more on the creative side of marketing.
I recently became interested in a position in advertising. I am taking an advertising class this semester and learned a lot of the work advertisers do. It aligns with the work I have always been interested in. So I am looking into learning more about advertising through an internship this summer.
I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a Marketing emphasis at CSUB and will be graduating May 2024. A few marketing courses I took were Consumer Behavior, Professional Selling, Data Analytics & Decision Making, and Advertising & Integrated Marketing Communications.
During my time at CSUB, I have worked at the Campus Recreation & Wellbeing center also known as the Student Recreation Center. I started working there in September 2022 as a Marketing Assistant. I have then ascended to Co-Student Manager of Marketing in August 2023 which is my current position.
I have nearly 2 years of experience as in a Marketing role at CSUB Campus Recreation & Wellbeing. I have been in two marketing positions that have allowed me to experience both the creative and analytical side of marketing.
I coordinated and led our biggest event in the Fall semester called Rec Fest. I chose the theme to be Rec Fest Island as we were entering a refreshing period with our department’s name change. I had the amazing opportunity to design the t-shirt, promotional items, social media postings and worked on our small budget to purchase decorations.
I have some prior experience with Excel. I have used Excel during my three years here at CSUB. I’ve taken 3 courses all focused on learning about the functions Excel offers.
Recently, I have used Excel for my Marketing Data Analytics class. I’ve learned how to use files from there onto R Studio. So I have been able to conduct deeper analysis.
I have some prior experience with R and Tableau. My Marketing Data Analytics course taken in the Spring semester all focused on these two software programs.
The class challenged students to conduct deeper data analysis by taking advantage of the functions these programs offer.
Learning R and Tableau is a challenge but I greatly enjoyed it. It is a continuous learning process which I love to see. Lots of struggles finding the correct code but patience goes a long way.
I have no prior experience with other analytic software. I’ve only used R, Tableau, and Excel during my time academic time.
I am interested in learning more about other software such as Python. However, I want to focus on mastering R and Tableau first before moving on to other analytic software. I understand the basics but I want to feel more confident in using these techniques better.
