There are a few reasons why this app may be useful, including the need to optimize choice of car model by minimizing fuel costs and the need for a quick interactive visualization method for this task.

This app allows you to compare the miles per gallon of different car models. The data used is the well known ‘mtcars’ dataset contained in R. Let’s take a quick look at the set.

For this app we will focus on the ‘mpg’ variable since we’re interested in fuel efficiency. The app is interactive, user-friendly and free and will help to make a better choice considering fuel efficiency.

The app consists on a side panel which lists all of the car models contained in the mtcars dataset. Each model has a tick box to it’s side. On the main panel, a plot is displayed showing the miles per gallon of the selected model(s). You can choose as many models as you want to compare by simply clicking on the tick box next to the desired car.
