Quarto

Quarto enables you to weave together content and executable code into a finished document. To learn more about Quarto see https://quarto.org.

Running Code

When you click the Render button a document will be generated that includes both content and the output of embedded code. You can embed code like this:

1 + 1
[1] 2

You can add options to executable code like this

[1] 4

The echo: false option disables the printing of code (only output is displayed).

This is a plot

Penguins Example.

Import the data.

Code
data = FileAttachment("https://gist.githubusercontent.com/slopp/ce3b90b9168f2f921784de84fa445651/raw/4ecf3041f0ed4913e7c230758733948bc561f434/penguins.csv").csv({ typed: true })

Create the input controls.

Code
viewof bill_length_min = Inputs.range(
  [32, 50],
  {value: 35, step: 1, label: "Bill length (min):"}
)
viewof islands = Inputs.checkbox(
  ["Torgersen", "Biscoe", "Dream"],
  { value: ["Torgersen", "Biscoe"],
    label: "Islands:"
  }
)

Filter the data.

Code
filtered = data.filter(function(penguin) {
  return bill_length_min < penguin.bill_length_mm &&
         islands.includes(penguin.island);
})

Plot the data.

Code
Plot.rectY(filtered,
  Plot.binX(
    {y: "count"},
    {x: "body_mass_g", fill: "species", thresholds: 20}
  ))
  .plot({
    facet: {
      data: filtered,
      x: "sex",
      y: "species",
      marginRight: 80
    },
    marks: [
      Plot.frame(),
    ]
  }
)
