All walking evaluations are based on 15 minute walk sheds calculated using Mapbox and OSM. To ensure that long corridors or corridors with more stations are not overvalued all metrics are normalized to a per station measure.

The initial summaries are presented below and the final scoring at the end.

Cluster Jobs Walkable

Strong Traded Cluster jobs were the most walkable Fruitville Road - John Ringling Causeway. Other Traded Clusters were the most walkable in US 41 Sarasota - Manatee and Local Cluster Jobs were the most walkable in US 41 Lee County. US 41 Lee County and Fruitville Road were the most walkable stations for total cluster jobs.

POI Evaluation

Because POI data is fraught with complications we used a proxy measure for capturing the presences of these features, non-work trip generation and attraction using the Replica Trip tables.

Trip Generation

The plot below shows all trips generated within the 15 minutes walk sheds for each corridor.

I-75 had the most non work trips per station with US 41 Sarasota - Manatee, Veterans Pkwy - Colonial Blvd, and Florida Ave all significantly behind.

Trip Attraction

The plot below shows all trips attracted within the 15 minutes walk sheds for each corridor.

Overall attractions follow a similar pattern to generators with I-75 having the most non work trips per station with US 41 Sarasota - Manatee, Florida Ave, and Veterans Pkwy - Colonial Blvd, all significantly behind.

Jobs and Population

Walking Access

Walking access to jobs and population was asssed using the District 1 Regional Planning Model’s (D1RPM) Socio Economic data for the yeat 2033 to reflect conditions for the starting year. Overall, I-75, Veterans Prky - Colonial Blvd, and US 41 Sarasota - Manatee have the highest walk access to jobs.

Transit Access

Transit Access to Jobs was assessed using TBEST. Overall, I-75, Palm Beach Blvd and MLK Blvd had the highest transit access to jobs.

To assign scores the relevant values, Transit_Jobs and the sum of non_work_generators and non_work_attractors, were selected. These values were than normalized to a 0-1 scale using a minmax normalization and then classified into their point values. For Non-Work values less than 0.2 were scored 1, 0.2 to 0.6 were scored 2, values above 0.6 were scored 3. Transit_Jobs values less than 0.2 were scored 1, 0.2 to 0.3 were scored 2, 0.3 to 0.4 were scored 3, 0.4 to 0.5 were scored 4, 0.5 to 0.6 were scored 5, 0.6 to 0.7 were scored 6, and above 0.7 were scored 7.
