Documentation of the DMAIC Process
1. Define
- Clearly define the goals and scope of the process.
- Identify the process to be improved and think of specific examples,
such as “new business development for in-vehicle products”.
2. Measure
- Quantitatively evaluate the current state of the process.
- Set appropriate metrics or KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and
collect data.
3. Analyze
- Analyze the data to identify the root cause of the problem.
- Use root cause analysis and statistical methods to reveal the
factors behind the problem.
4. Improve
- Develop and implement solutions to the problem.
- Utilize Kaizen events or PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycles to promote
improvement.
5. Control
- Maintain the improvements and establish a sustainable process.
- Put in place a monitoring system to regularly assess the quality of
the process and adjust as necessary.
