The 16 Countryside Bird Survey squares illustrated in the map below are potentially available for the 2026 survey season. 410 squares are already allocated.
Use the map buttons to make the map full screen, change the background map, or turn layers on and off.
Mouse over a square to see the square reference, click a square to see its priority. All squares are valuable, but more scientific insights can be extracted from squares that have already been surveyed many times. Priority 1 squares have more than 20 years worth of data recorded already. Priority 4 squares have never been surveyed before.
For satellite imagery turn on the “Esri.WorldImagery” layer and turn off the “Potentially Available Priority” layer.
