Preface

These slides contain notes and assignments for the ‘’Empirical Applications with Big Data Tools’’ part of the Master in Economics: Empirical Applications and Policies at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. These are intended to introduce social scientists to concepts in Big Data and Machine Learning using R.

I recommend you create a new project in R before starting with the coding examples contained in chapters 5–9. Read more on using/setting up R projects here.

We will also be using DataCamp’s interactive classroom features to practice some coding exercises.
