Introduction to Me!

Hello! My name is Maya Hicks and I am a second-year at the University of Cincinnati. I have a passion for continuous learning and traveling. This passion was the main catalyst for deciding to study Spanish in college. I grew up 30 minutes North of Cincinnati in Kings Mills. I love the city of Cincinnati and have no plans of leaving any time soon!

Academic Background

Professional Background

This past summer, I was an Enterprise Data Office co-op for Fifth Third Bank. During my 12 weeks at Fifth Third, some of my responsibilities included:

  • Querying company data in Snowflake using SQL
  • Creating and editing training videos for Data Producers on how to use various technologies within Fifth Third’s data pipeline
  • Upskilling in SQL through online training

This summer, I will be working at Phillips Edison as a Data Science co-op. I look forward to expounding off of what I learned at Fifth Third and growing my skills in PowerBI.

Experience with Analytical Software

Experience with R

Prior to this class, I have had no experience with R. However, I look forward to learning more about R and growing as a business analyst.

Experience with SQL

During my time at Fifth Third as a co-op, I was able to gain a lot of experience with SQL. However, I still have a lot of room for growth and plan to further my skills in SQL down the road.

Practice with R Markdown

In order to practice writing equations and code using R Markdown, let’s do a simple calculation of the amount of days I have been studying Spanish:

I have been studying Spanish for 8 years.

yrs <- 8

There are, roughly, 365 days in a year.

days <- 365

Therefore, we can use this equation to calculate the amount of days I have been studying Spanish: \[ days = {yrs}*{365} \] However in R, the calculations will look as following:

days_studied <- yrs * days
days_studied
## [1] 2920

Therefore, I have studied Spanish for 2920 days!
