The 2023/24 season has seen a rise in starters by virtually 50% with an increase in prize money won by proportionally the same amount.

Distance Analysis

2024 and 2023 season are tracking very similar in terms of overall strike rate at each distance
Strike rate in the staying category is of slight concern, however further investigation required to look at the quality of stayer in the stable for the 23/24 season

State Analysis

NSW growth is tracking tremendous with increase in 105% in starters
VIC has increased 40% in starters (486->628)
NSW beating market expectation

Track Condition Analysis

Placement at this point last season was terrific on heavy tracks exceeding market expectation by 35%. Limited sample so far this year, but trending right direction

Age Analysis

As seen above, the 2YO have gotten to the track much quicker than the previous season with an increase of 100% YoY
3YO in 2022/23 were relatively strong with likes of Coolangatta, Ruthless Dame, Royal Merchant

Race Prize Analysis

Proportionally, 8% less starts in the less than $30k race bracket which is tremendous
Horses placed in <$30k are still overachieving against the market by a near 30% which could mean we can be a little more aggressive in placing horses in higher prize money races
Participation in the highest prize bracket has increased proportionally by 39% with a good actual wins to expected wins rate

Maiden Race Placement Against Prize

Huge increase of 63% competitors in the $50k+ maidens
Similar to the overall prize money analysis, the stable still exceeds expectation in the bottom tier of $30k and less maidens suggesting could be more agressive in pushing these into the $30k to 50k tier

Prep Runs Analysis

Huge decrease in first up performance 12% down from 24% (100% decrease!)
Strong 2nd up case exceeding market expectation by 32%

Days Between Runs Analysis

Virtually looks the same as last year. Tiny increase (19% proportionally) in the 11-17 bracket which was a key takeaway from previous presentations to board focusing on drawing more runs out of each horse
Huge performance in 18-25 days between runs exceed market expectation by 19%

Weight Analysis

Very low strike rate for 60kg+ so far this season which may be a factor of the type of horses in that category (backmarkers with weight much harder to win that leaders with weight). Further analysis required looking at the spread of weights compared to field

Distance Change Analysis

22/23 season performed well in the bracket dropping back 200m, similar pattern in 23/24 exceed market expectation by 18%
Nothing too alarming of note for 23/24 season, monitor as sample grows for 201-400m bracket to ensure win % is consistent
