What was being said about each movie?
From what the reviews say, we can get an idea of what each movie did well. Oppenheimer seems to be a more artistic movie, where people admire the work. Words like “brilliant”, “amazing”, and “masterpiece” were used to describe the movie. Whereas Barbie seems to be a more fun and enjoyable movie. Words like “fun”, “humor”, and “creative” were used to describe it. We can also see what people did not like about them. Oppenheimer seemed to bit too intense and confusing for people. Some people thought Barbie was stereotypical and not well written.
As time went on, different effects happened to the movies. Oppenheimer started extremely high, but as time goes on and the movies has been out longer, the reviews get worse and worse until the positivity scores are negative. Barbie on the other hand, didn’t start out nearly as strong as Oppenheimer, but it’s high ratings stayed somewhat consistent. Time overall had a worse effect on Oppenheimer.
Conslusion
Both movies were great movies by great directors. However, both movies were loved for different reasons. They were clearly made for two different demographics and should be held to two different standards. While Oppenheimer seemed initially incredible, as more time passed, the public opinion seemed to shift.
