Statistical analysis

Changes in introducer tip are summarized by mean (SD; standard deviation) by group and visualized in a bar chart. Each group is compared with stainless steel by the two-sample t-test. Overall variations across the nine groups are tested by the ANOVA. All analyses were performed in R version 4.3.1 (R Foundation for Statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria).

Results

The following tabulates summary statistics of change (cm) by group, with each group compared with stainless steel by the \(t\)-test.

Table 1. Mean change (SD) by group and compared with stainless steel (overall ANOVA P<0.001).
Group Mean (SD) P
Stainless Steel 1.62 (0.1)
Introducer Only 2.52 (0.15) <0.001
Aluminum 2.13 (0.08) <0.001
Titanium 1.48 (0.08) 0.023
Brass 1.75 (0.08) 0.03
Copper 1.82 (0.14) 0.017
Carbon Fiber 1.67 (0.05) 0.304
Nitinol 2.17 (0.08) <0.001
Molybdenum 1.34 (0.09) <0.001

The bar char below shows the mean \(\pm\) SD of change by group.
