This graphs shows the actual vs. expected regular season wins for
each team.
An “expected win” is defined as being a top-six scorer in any given
week.
One challenge of fantasy football is knowing which players to start, and which to sit on the bench. Minimizing these “potential points” of players on the bench is a skill that sets the great teams apart from the rest.
In the graph below, the metrics are defined as follows.
Roster Strength: Total potential points scored
throughout the season if the optimal lineup was used each week.
Management Skill: Minimal potential points left on the
bench.
This graph shows a summary of each team’s weekly scores, including
playoffs, through a box plot.
Average Score: Thick black line near the middle of each
box.
Maximum Score: Highest point of the line above the
box.
Minimum Score: Lowest point of the line below the
box.
Consistency: Tight box = consistent scores; Wide box =
range of scores.
This graph fits a trend-line to each team’s scoring, including
playoffs, throughout the year.
Falling line: scores were generally downward trending
as the year progressed.
Rising line: scores were generally upward trended as
the year progressed.
Horizontal line: scores were generally consistent
throughout the year.
