Question

Do established winning teams fill there stadiums more than losing teams?

Reasoning

People are more likely to go and watch a team that is winning games but I am to what extent that matters when fandom is very loyalty based.

Method

  • I will use the winning percentage variable as a main judge for a teams success

  • I will use the the fill rate to determine how well attendance is

  • I will use a sum of current wins and loses, this sum must add up to four as I don’t want to factor in teams that have played very little. I want the fans to have already formulated an opinion on their team

Results/Discussion

This definitely supports that winning teams are filling stadiums at a higher rate than teams with losing records. As win percentage increases we can estimate that the attendance at games will also increase. The line of best fit is nearly at a full fill rate for undefeated teams, meaning that teams that have not lost the game are estimated to nearly sell out each game.
