Professional Background

I got my first job back in May 2022. I was a cashier at Michaels and I worked there for three months. Then, I became a Peer Mentor in January 2023 at UTSA and I did that for the whole spring semester, so until May. When I was a Peer Mentor, I assisted with the academic concerns and progress of 47 assigned students via one-on-one sessions. I also delivered weekly presentations of available resources and services to these students. Afterwards, I started working at my first internship this summer back in June and that was for 10 weeks, so it ended in August. I worked at UnitedHealth Group as a Customer Experience and Capabilities Intern. During my internship, I had to execute a Product Standardization effort for 21 Optum Health Market Products by establishing a Product Standard Validation, an Exception Criteria, and a Profit & Loss Owner. Along with this effort, I had to coordinate with 9 Subject Matter Experts to ensure product standards are met for their Market Products. Finally, at the beginning of the fall 2023 semester, I began working as an Academic Peer Coach (APC) at UTSA. And in my role as an APC, I support all types of undergraduate students with identifying their goals, overcoming obstacles, and developing strategies to help them have a richer and more fulfilling college experience. In addition, I’m responsible for facilitating workshops on relevant academic topics to help these students achieve academic success regarding academic, social, and emotional growth.

Experience With R

I’m a beginner with R. I’ve only got exposed to some of it this past spring semester when I took Data Management for Business Analytics (MS 3083). In that class, we learned how to manipulate and clean data files.

SAS is the only other analytic software that I have experience with.
