Hi! My name is Brett. I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. I’ve lived here my whole life. My undergraduate degree was in chemistry at the University of Cincinnati. I have done a lot of research in the last four years. I researched in areas of biology, organic chemistry and materials engineering. I decided to pursue my MS in business analytics and data science to further develop my technical skills with respect to programming and data analysis. During school, I have also managed the chemical stockroom on campus. Previously, I have not had experience with R, so it is new to me. With that, I have worked with python for a little while now, so I’ve found R relatively easy to pick up. I have used python for previous classes I’ve taken in my undergrad and also for personal use/experimentation. Outside of my academic endeavors, I enjoy spending time in nature, hiking, cooking and listening to music. After this program, I hope to find employment as at data scientist. I feel that is the perfect profession for someone like myself who loves to constantly learn new things. The photo of me was taken a few years back, but I love that photo because it reminds me of a time when I was very happy. I was traveling all around California with one my best friends from high school. The location was Tiburon, California, which is just outside of San Francisco. I remember the weather being perfect (as usual for the bay area) and the memories that come back in that photo bring a calming sense of nostalgia. With that, I look forward to continuing my learning in this program. I am very happy to be here.
