Inequality

The Gini index measures the extent to which the distribution of income (or, in some cases, consumption expenditure) among individuals or households within an economy deviates from a perfectly equal distribution. Thus a Gini index of 0 represents perfect equality, while an index of 100 implies perfect inequality. Data are based on primary household survey data obtained from government statistical agencies and World Bank country departments. Data for high-income economies are mostly from the Luxembourg Income Study database. For more information and methodology, please see https://pip.worldbank.org/home

Poverty

Poverty headcount ratio at $2.15 a day is the percentage of the population living on less than $2.15 a day at 2017 international prices.

Literacy rate

Youth literacy rate: the percentage of people ages 15-24 who can both read and write with understanding a short simple statement about their everyday life. Data originally provided by UNESCO.
