How to interpret this document

Daily overview

Stationarity (aka potential death) on the scale of a day can be found by exploring the number of pings (detections), the number of nodes a tag was detected at, and the standard deviation of rssi values. When a tag is stationary, each of these values should be quite low.

Last 2 days, hourly

Hourly detections can help find a tag that went stationary during a given day and help us pinpoint when a tag went stationary. Look for low detections, number of nodes, and standard deviation values. Focus on situations where multiple adjacent values are low (just one or two may represent resting).

Note: To make things easier to interpret, I’ve subset these records to only observations between sunrise and sunset.

5-minute intervals, yesterday

The 5-minute interval plots show the maximum RSSI values across 5-minute intervals for:

  • Any tag that was observed yesterday
  • The closest nodes for a given tag over the course of the day (ties are included) – might want to adjust this to the end of the day, we’ll see.

Look for variation in signal strength for a given node across time (see morning and evening records to get a sense of what lack-of-variation looks like).

Note: If there are not a lot of points, this is rarely useful!
