Introduction
- According to data from a website, the crime rates in recent years
have started to decline or increase depending on the area as shown by
the statistics.
- As well as depicting the decline in the rate of crime through
offences recorded and criminal incidents, other factors were researched
to see why some areas have higher crime activity than others.
Recorded Offences
- In the Eastern and Western regions crime declined in a year whereas
the other regions it increased.
- North West Metro region had the highest number of offences recorded
over the two year span.

Criminal Incidents
- North West Metro had the largest number of criminal incidents
reported which matches what was shown in the offences recorded
graph.
- The trends for this graph match the trends found in the offences
recorded graph as it depicts Eastern and Western criminal incidents
decline over the two year span.

Population of Victoria between 2021-2022 by Area
- North West Metro has the highest number of people living in that
region compared to the others.
- This is followed by Eastern, Southern Metro and Western.
- Based on the previous outputs it is interesting to note that
Southern Metro has a lower population than Eastern but however has a
higher crime activity count than Eastern region.

Comparing Population to Crime Activity by Area per Year:
- A visualisation was made to compare the population in each region
with the amount of crime that occurs in each region.
- The results show that there could potentially be a correlation
between the number of people in a region to the amount of crime that
occurs.
- The scatterplot depicts that North West Metro has the highest
population and the most crime.
- Western that has the lowest amount of crime also has the lowest
population in the region.

Conclusion
- The data and visualizations presented show that there is a
connection between population and crime rates in different regions of
Victoria. The analysis reveals that the North West Metro region
consistently had the highest number of both offences and incidents over
the two-year period and this aligns with the observation that this
region also has the highest population.
- Additionally, there seems to be a potential correlation between the
population of each region and the amount of crime activity. The
scatterplot shows that the North West Metro region, which has the
highest population, also has the highest crime count, while the Western
region, with the lowest population, has the lowest crime count. This
suggests that a larger population may contribute to a higher incidence
of crime because there are more people to be victims or perpetrators
when it comes to crime.
