1 Per 100.000 population rates for homicides in Colombia
The bar chart illustrates the homicides rates per 100.000 population in
Colombia divided by both gender and age group during 2021. Each bar
contains rates of men and women which are represented by red color for
the former and blue for the latter. These rates facilitate meaningful
comparisons between dissimilar groups such as gender, age, social
classes, etc. The Data was obtained from “Medicina Legal” which is a
Colombian agency in charge of counting violent deaths.
As it is observed, in all categories the rates for men are higher than
women. This graph reveals that most elevated values are located between
20 and 39 years old. Furthermore, above 40 years charts gradually reduce
their size until the oldest classifications.
However, women present fewer digits than men in the plot and an
overwhelming difference can be noticed at the largest bars. So, it is
explicitly observed that males were overrepresented in homicides
throughout 2021.
