Time: The website has data for local elections since
2004. The data was collected on April 22, 2023 (Two scraping scripts in
that day generated the datasets used in this document)
Excludes: According to the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections, “this web site lists candidates for county and local offices and committees/PACs. Candidates for federal, state and multi-county offices are reported on the Division of Elections of the Department of State Website.”
This table includes all candidates for local office in Alachua County since 2004. It also lists the total contributions it received in that race (excluding in-kind), the total expenses and distributions, and the difference between the two numbers.
Some see average individual contributions as a way to measure how
“grassroots” a candidate’s movement is.
The last column is called “Number of Real Contributions by Individuals” because it deletes the contributions listed as deletions and the original contributions to calculate an accurate average.
This chart shows how often the candidate with the most funding won
the race in that specific office or office type (this is because some
offices, school board members, have various seats for various
districts).
The data includes all elections since 2004.
For accuracy, the calculations were only done for races with more
than one candidate.
Governor Ron DeSantis has made changes to education in Florida.
In the first Alachua School Board election after DeSantis became
governor, the total contributions saw a significant increase
Is this increase occurring due to contributors wanting to support
DeSantis’s change, oppose it, or a combination of both?
