First of all, I would like to thank You for showing us this speech because it has affected my emotions and filled my knowledge with new ideas. It has been a while since I have heard such an inspiring speech and the best thing about it is that he gave it through his own story which added a lot of value to the speech. It’s honestly hard to pick an idea that stuck with me the most because the whole speech was clearly about things that affect the way people think in today’s world. If I had to pick one it would probably be: “When you work towards something greater than yourself, you find meaning, you find purpose. So the question I hope you will carry forward from here is, how will you serve humanity?” I hope I can find that greater thing that is worth striving for every day and find a job, or rather a vocation, where I can find myself and be grateful for the opportunity to do it. He also mentioned in his speech a question related to this: “what is my purpose?” This question is the one that most describes my feelings about my life at the moment, I could almost completely identify with Tim’s speech as he mentioned that it took him a long time to figure out what his purpose in life was and what his path was. I think Tim helped to make me realise that everyone finds or comes to their purpose in life in their own time. I think a lot of people in my age struggle with these feelings when they feel they can’t find their place in the world, it’s hard to get started on the path of life or where to go especially after school. Many people/young people aspire to great things but they don’t know where to start. I have found that one of the biggest drawbacks of today’s youth is their own laziness which makes most of them want to become successful and rich easily, with almost no added valuable work. Some of them may or may not succeed, and this will also affect the way they see life and the negativity take control of their life. In my opinion is that big goals are difficult to achieve in a short time, it only possible if a lot of work is put in. I personally believe in karma and that everyone will eventually get what they deserve and what they have worked for. I believe that everything has to happen in its own time, which can take years, but if you don’t give up, you can achieve anything. For months I’ve been thinking about what my path is, why I’m in this world. I feel like I want to contribute something to humanity that I can help them with too. I feel lost on this subject now, I’m thinking that maybe I chose the wrong course, but then I think that everything happens for a reason and everything goes back to somewhere and maybe this is the path that will lead me to find my own path after a while, just like Tim Cook found his. To help people find their goals, continuous self-improvement can be a great help. We always must improve ourselves.
I would like to say a few words about technology, I think that what we need is not more development but we need to help people’s problems, as Tim Cook mentioned, how many benefits Apple devices have over and above scrolling the internet. Tim is right and I completely agree with everything he said. Maybe many of their devices have saved lives or just made lives easier. I think the world is evolving to the point of being so modernised by technology that it will be our undoing and as much as it can make life easier, after years it will make life unbearable for many people. I’m referring here to the jobs that will be replaced by robots within a period of time and this will take away the chance for people to find their own purpose as they will minimise the chances and choices for everyone. I feel that people need more of these speeches to help them realise what is really important in life, because in a few words I think that, most of the world is dominated by the negative power of the internet.
