About the happiness of the World

• Why should we care about happiness? More and more people believe that a country’s success should be judged by the people’s happiness (World Happiness Report 2023). The Happiness report ranks happiness from 10 to 0 based on the score of the Life ladder. The happiest country has a score of 10 and the least happy country has a score of 0.

• In some plots, the Life ladder is interchangeably used with the happiness score.

• When you hover over the world map here you can see that Finland is the world’s happiest country scoring 7.43 while Afghanistan is the least happy country with a score of 1.28.

• You can hover over the box plot to find out the maximum, minimum and median happiness scores as well as the happiness scores of each quartile and this also provides an understanding of the distribution of the happiness scores.

• The bottom two charts show whether GDP per capita and social support impact happiness. When you hover over the dots, you can see the details such as Life Ladder, GDP per capita and social support.
