Topic

Based on the research you have done in this class, prepare a final presentation and a four-page document. The topic will address how exploration of data changed your perspective on an environmental issue covered in this class. Each student will prepare an outline and draft a final short paper for presentation to the class.

Structure of paper

• Introduction – summarize the changes in your perspective
• Main text, describe:
  • your initial views on the topic
  • elements of the class that influenced your perspective: be specific on the role of each, including the media coverage, class discussions, data analysis, and class debates
  • technical knowledge you gained using R and how it might contribute to courses you take in the next few years
  • your current perspective, including topics that would like to explore further
• Conclusion - Summarize your main points

Presentation

The presentation to class will be 10 minutes, with graphics that can come from analyses you did in class and the research you did. Post a ppt (or other type of) file the day before presentations start to Sakai. Use your outline as the basis for structuring your talk.
