Dear friends of the sea

I am addressing you today to draw your attention to an important issue: the protection of starfish on the island of Bocas del Toro.

Perhaps you have had the pleasure of relaxing on a floating bar on the sea and enjoying the crystal clear waters. But have you paid attention to the little wonders under the surface of the water? Starfish are beautiful and fascinating sea creatures that are often overlooked. But their habitat is becoming increasingly threatened, and their populations are suffering from pollution, climate change, and human disturbance.

I recently witnessed a sad scene when I watched a tourist take a starfish out of the water and bring it to the surface, not knowing that doing so would kill the animal. This got me thinking: how many people really know about the delicate marine ecosystem and how to protect it?

I want to help raise awareness about starfish conservation on Bocas del Toro, while raising money to support organizations working to protect these fascinating animals:

Sofar my own efforts, we have already been able to take action to raise awareness about starfish conservation. We have printed flyers next we want to creat laminated information boards that have been placed in strategic locations on the island and surrounding areas. These materials are intended not only to inform tourists, but also to serve as a source of knowledge for the local population.

Every donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference. Together, we can help ensure that starfish on Bocas del Toro and elsewhere in the ocean are protected and their populations can thrive.
