Immunohistochemistry (IHC) biomarkers

  • Immunofluorescence IHC (IF-IHC) is a detection method, during which antibody binding to an antigen is visualized using a fluorophore.
  • Traditionally, pathologists subjectively evaluate IHC marker levels based on staining intensity. This evaluation provides data in ordinal (e.g. low, medium and high) or nominal (positive/negative) scales.
  • A common application of IHC is simultaneous slide-based analysis of certain protein expression using tissue microarrays (TMAs).
