Chapter 1 Risk

*Prices vs Value**

Data we recieve will be real world data. Prices and valuation are two different things and diverging valuations leads to trading. This book will look to teach us how to implement and analyze this data using R.

1.1 Importing Daily Stock Price Data

We will import data using the yahoo finance or the getsymbol option. To import data you must select your date range on yahoo finance and download it as a CSV. We will be using mostly 3 year date ranges on data.

1.2 Importing Price Data From Yahoo Finance

Once you find a quote on yahoo finance of a stock who’s data you want. You then go to historical prices and apply your date range. You download the excel book as a CSV and save it anywhere. Once saved you bring it into R Studio by going to the resources/rstudio tab and uploading with your RMD file. Raw data will have errors so the enitre data set should be uploaded as is before changes are made. Use this code data.AMZN <- read.csv(“AMZN Yahoo.csv”, header=TRUE) head(data.AMZN)

On 1.2 you need to do r echo=false, results=‘hide’, message=FALSE, warning=FALSE same with everything else

Add a # in front of all lines of code used to make a cahrt in order to have the chart go away
